This page describes the type and source of the historical water flow and water quality data currently made available through this website by the following data providers.
City of Las Cruces - The Water Utility Department is responsible for delivery of potable water to users within the Department’s service area and also for collection, treatment, and disposal of wastewater in the same service area. Staff within the City’s Water Utility Department collaborated with staff at EBID on a short-term water quality study related to discussions on standards for uses involving contact with Rio Grande water from July 2001 to March 2002. These water quality data are served on this site under City of Las Cruces map features, and metadata for these data are provided in the metadata section of the website.
Elephant Butte Irrigation District - EBID collects daily water flow data from numerous gauging stations located along its water delivery system, including its Rio Grande diversion points, major headings of its canals, and at various points along its drains. These data are collected through telemetry equipment to allow better management of EBID's water delivery activities and to provide real-time information to downstream water users. EBID's water delivery service area spans the Rio Grande Valley located in New Mexico, starting from below Caballo Dam down to the New Mexico-Texas State line. EBID's website currently offers near real-time data and short-term historic flow data, yet currently no water quality data are offered. This website is can be accessed through the following link.

International Boundary and Water Commission - The IBWC is the federal agency in the U.S. responsible for management of all boundary and water resource issues that arise between the U.S. and Mexico on the border. The IBWC is actively involved in collecting and managing historic and current water flow and water quality data, and they are also responsible for administering the Texas Clean Rivers Program and posting these water quality data on their webpage. The Texas Clean Rivers Program data are accessed through the following link. In the future, we will also provide access to historic water flow data that the IBWC collects and manages.

United States Bureau of Reclamation - The USBOR is the federal agency responsible for the management of Elephant Butte and Percha Dams and Reservoirs that form part of the Rio Grande Project. The Bureau is also responsible for collecting and managing water flow data and reservoir storage data related to these reservoirs and dams. These water flow and storage data are accessed through the following link. The metadata for these data are provided in the metadata section of the website.
United States Geological Society - The USGS is a federal agency actively involved in collecting and managing a very wide range of physical resource data. Water resource data within the study area for this Cooperative Database project are of special interest to the Paso del Norte Watershed Council. Specific USGS data that are referenced in this website include groundwater well data collected at select groundwater wells in the study area. These groundwater data are accessed through the following link. The metadata for these data are provided in the metadata section of the website.
